Coming up on Saturday July 25 at 7pm: a Quiz Night in aid of the repair of the lodge roof. Admission £5, bring your own refreshments (tea and coffee provided).
A beautiful day for the launch of our memorial benches by Mary Kelly Foy MP. Huge thanks to her, and to Graeme Hopper for designing and making the benches, and then installing them with the help of Graham Harrison and the DCC Bereavement team.
Durham MP Mary Kelly Foy has kindly agreed to perform the official launch of our memorial benches. Their creator Graeme Hopper will be present, along with trustees of the Friends and fellow members. Light refreshments will be served, following the informal ceremony.
Volunteers to help with tidying the cemetery on 7 April will be warmly welcomed from 10.30 onwards.
All we need now is fine weather!
Here is a picture of one of the new memorial benches, installed today by Graeme Hopper, who designed them. On the seat of each bench is a plaque reading ‘Remembering all who rest here in this woodland glade’.
Some time next year we hope to have an official launch of this memorial project, for which we received funding way back in 2020. It has taken a long time, but we are delighted that the project has at last been realised.
